Die Herausforderungen, die für die Gesundheit durch Urbanisierung entstehen, sind gravierend: Über 4,4 Milliarden Menschen leben heute in städtischen Gebieten; bis 2025 werden es bereits 6,7 Milliarden sein – 70 Prozent der Weltbevölkerung. Die Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften (BBAW) lädt in Kooperation mit dem Inter-Academy Partnership (IAP) und der Volkswagen Foundation daher zum International Urban Health Summit vom 9. bis 11. April 2025 auf Schloss Herrenhausen in Hannover ein. 80 internationale Referent:innen werden mit mehr als 200 Teilnehmer:innen verschiedene Aspekte urbaner Gesundheit sowie geeignete Maßnahmen zur Implementierung diskutieren – orientiert an den 17 Nachhaltigkeitszielen der Vereinten Nationen.

The technological progress of the 20th century was driven by electronics and photonics. At the beginning of the 21st century there is already substantial evidence that the use of coherence and entanglement of composite quantum mechanical systems will propel technological applications. Indeed, today quantum mechanics is no longer restricted to physics but plays an important role in many other disciplines such as chemistry, electrical engineering, and mathematics.
