AI – past, present & future

PANEL DISCUSSION

05. November 2025

Akademiegebäude am Gendarmenmarkt, Leibniz-Saal, Markgrafenstraße 38, 10117 Berlin

Artificial Intelligence is transforming not only our technologies, but also our ways of understanding the world – past, present, and future.

In this special evening panel discussion, German and Israeli researchers will highlight three dimensions of AI:

  • Past: how AI transforms the humanities, from analyzing ancient manuscripts to making long-lost voices and cultures visible again.
  • Present: how AI impacts science, medicine, and society today, opening new possibilities while raising urgent ethical questions.
  • Future: how researchers envision the next steps – from new breakthroughs to international collaboration, and the challenges that must be addressed.

The panel will bring together leading voices from both countries, offering insights into how AI not only drives innovation but also reshapes our understanding of history and our imagination of what lies ahead.

With: Nili Cohen (Tel Aviv University), David Harel (Israel Academy), Nadja Klein (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Alumna of Die Junge Akademie), Christoph Markschies, Klaus-Robert Müller (TU Berlin, Member of BBAW), Yadin Dudai (Weizman Institute of Science), Verena Shifferman (German Israeli Foundation)
