The United Kingdom’s relationship with the European Union has become hotly debated and contentious. This lecture explores the prospects for resolving the controversy in the light of the outcome of the general election of May 2015. Helen Wallace examines both the domestic debates within the UK and the implications for the EU of possible changes to the UK’s status.

Professor Dame Helen Wallace, DBE, CMG, FBA, is the Foreign Secretary of the British Academy. She is a leading expert on the United Kingdom’s relationship with the European Union. She has held academic posts at the London School of Economics, the European University Institute and the University of Sussex.
