_____________________

Sequential art is mostly referred to as comics, a series of images and texts which follow one another to create a story. However, this description may at times undervalue and narrow the essence of this medium. If we revise the definition of Sequential Art to »an active and focused study on the dynamics of image and/as text encoding«, we can use it to deconstruct various new phenomena. This appears increasingly relevant in view of the new interactive networking platforms of Myspace, Facebook, and alternative Internet media, which create an illusion of narration with an endless flow of seemingly traceable fragmented information.

Gabriel S. Moses is an Israeli illustrator and author of graphic novels, mostly dealing with social and aesthetic aspects of the relations between national, international, and local youth subculture in Israel.
